I was hooked by the blurb for this one because undercover agent amongst a high school crowd searching out mysterious drug connections falls in love with daughter of criminals and then all hell breaks loose? Hell yes!
I needed to read me some of that!
It was such a great plot idea! So much can happen in a world like that and lots did – it just felt like it happened in too young voice for me – some reactions, interactions and change-ups came off somewhat juvenile maybe? I just felt it missed the grittiness that I was hoping for heading in
I liked the characters overall yet to me it felt there were hidden depths to them that needed to be explored.
All in all as a first book it was quite good and I can’t wait to see more from this author as they grow and develop the series and their voice in the genre as a whole.
