The Prisoner’s Throne is the final book in the Stolen Heir duology by Holly Black set in the world of Elfhame following Jude’s brother Oak, and the changeling queen, Suren. Tropes include fae romance, a reluctant prince, a runaway queen and a quest that may destroy them both. This book is not a standalone and is recommended for 13+ due to violence.
A Touch of Chaos is the fourth and final instalment in the Hades x Persephone Saga by Scarlett St. Clair set in the World of New Greece universe. It is a hades and persephone adaptation, fantasy romance and the world will burn for their love. This book is not a standalone and is recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations.
The Flame King’s Bride is the second book in the Fire and Desire Trilogy by Chloe Chastaine following Zabriel the possessive hero, and Isavelle the strong but sweet heroine. It is a steamy, non-shifter MF romance set in a fantasy world of magic and dragonriders. It is not a standalone – ends on a cliffhanger and is recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations.
Empire of the Damned is the long awaited sequel to Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. It follows once-again monster slayer Gabriel de Leon and the Grail and bloodthirsty vampires. It is a graphic dark fantasy saga and recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations.
Uprising by Jennifer A. Nielsen is a standalone inspired by the extraordinary real-life story of Polish teenager Lidia Zakrzewski. This book is a dramatic account of the Polish resistance fighters who struggled to force out their Nazi occupiers and reclaim their nation’s freedom from tyranny.
To Break a Dark Cage is the third instalment in the Iron Crystal series by Kathryn Ann Kingsley following Gwen and the taming of Mordred the Dark Ruler of Avalon. This book a gripping dark fairy tale and seductive fantasy romance, with witches, horror, slow-burning attraction, enemies-to-lovers banter and an alluring villain. It is recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations.
Storm of Secrets and Sorrow by Melissa K. Roehrich is the second instalment of The Legacy Series. It follows the fate of Tessalyn Asura in the Arius Kingdom as personal source to the Heir of Endings. In a land of gods, demigods and fae, there are villains and secrets and morally gray, walking red flag, St. Orcas. This is a new adult, dark fantasy romance series and is recommended 21+ due to language, violence and potentially triggering adult situations.
A Song to Wake a Thousand Sorrows by Michelle Manus is the first instalment of The Song Duology. In the Faelhorn province, Clare Brighton comes seeking fame and riches with her Songweaver talent and must escape the notice of the Jackal King who seeks the hidden ancient entity within her – The Song. She will need the help of her lord friends and the second prince of Faelhorn and the Song itself to survive. This is a lyrical fantasy romance and is recommended 18+ due to language and adult situations.
Avalon Tower by C.N. Crawford & Alex Rivers. This is the first instalment in a new series set in a Fey Academy for Spies universe. It follows Nia, whose magic to challenge the invading fey King Auberon gets her drawn from regular life into the cold war of espionage between humans and fey in Europe. Whisked off to the Academy for Spies in a hidden realm tied into the Pendragon myth, she is thrust back into the life of her Demi-Fey mentor, Raphael Launcelot. He once broke her heart and now she loathes him but they are tasked with a mission together into the Fey realm. This is a new adult fantasy romance and is recommended for 18+ due to language and adult situations.
